Cry For Help
I didn't last very long on my own today. I was counting on some naps from Jackson to catch up on the lost sleep from last night. For his first nap I had him all settled and in his crib when the power went out. No big deal i thought, until moments later when the power returned and the smoke alarms started blaring for some unknown reason. I didn't know how to shut them off, but luckily they shut of after several seconds. Needless to say that was the end of nap #1. I decided to give Jack some rice cereal as it seemed as though he was still hungry after breastfeeding. Lately he's been very cranky and unlatching frequently to whine or even cry while I am trying to feed him...this is very annoying and concerning to me! So the rice cereal went down and before I knew it, time for nap #2! This one was even worse, he just kept waking up, as soon as I got all cozy in bed! Finally I gave up and tried to calm him by breastfeeding. He would have none of that, so in tears I called Cory and he came home so I could sleep. I got a good two hour nap that was totally uninterupted! No baby monitor, or waiting on pins and needles for Jackson's next cry! Apparently Jackson have a 10 nap #3, After my nap it was time for Jackson to feed once again. This went a little better. For his nap #4 I put him in the swing and he was dow nfor 1/2 hour!!!! Today that is a long time, but usually that is considered a short nap. This next feed was terrible. Constant squirming, biting, pulling and crying. I finally just got so frustrated that I gave up and Cory took him. Hewas still fussy so we decided to see if he was still hungry. I had been pumping for a couple of days to get ready for our night out, so we used one of the meals in reserve and fed Jackson. He ate a full 5 oz. and was finally happy. So now we have come to the conclusion that my milk supply is low for some reason. I've been eating fairly well, still only a bowl or two of cereal for breakfast though. So I am going to try eating even more and also try fennel as that is supposed to increase milk supply. It's so frustrating because Jackson is feeding 8-10 times in a 24 hour period. For now we are going to keep him feeding for as long as possible via boob and go from there. What else can we do?!
