Baby Language

Yeay for Oprah! I'm not usually into TV, but a friend of mine told me that Oprah was having someone talk about the language of babies. I'd already been reading about studies that were being done about how babies have different cries for different needs., so I was very interested. The woman who was on the show broke down the pre-cry whinings that babies do into 5 "words". The words represent hunger, discomfort, burping needed, gas in lower regins and sleepy. They had a number of babies making each of the sounds and Cory and I recognized many of then right away. We had already figured out the sleepy and hungry ones, so the other three were very interesting. After the show we listened to Jackson and found out that he wasn't bored of his play gym like we usually think, he had lower gas. So I gave him a little belly massage and he was good after he released some gas......haha. Then he made the sound for burping and I burped him. After that he was the most mellow babe in the world. No crying at all in the evening, which is usually his cranky time. This is the most amazing discovery in the world! let's hope today goes as well as yesterday.

On another note things with Jack's nighttime sleep patterns are crazy! On Sunday night he was up almost every hour! We were exhausted all day Monday. Last night he was getting up frequently and since Cory had to work today he couldn't be up all night with Jackson! So I brought Jack into bed with me around midnight and Cory slept in the spare room. I don't like us sleeping in seperate beds, but sometimes it's better. Jackson slept beside me and slept quite well. He had couple more feedings than usual, but they were usually quite short, more to fall asleep than to feed. I was surprised that I had such a good sleep. I don't always sleep well with Jack beside me. So for everyone it was an awesome night, but I don't think we should make a habit out of those sleeping arrangements, only when Cory and I are super sleep deprived!
