The Nail

Oh we had quite the night last night!! At about 9pm we decided to cut the dog's nails as they have been neglected and my mom has hardwood floors that I don't want damaged. I cut the nails while Cory holds Betty down. She's not too fond of nail clippings but has gotten better. I always make sure not to cut the quick (the inner part of the nail) as it usually hurts the dog. I was on the second to last nail on the last paw and snip.... i got the quick! Betty didn't flinch or wimper so I assume it didn't hurt, but oh boy did it start to bleed! We got a bunch of tissue and I ran downstairs to find the baking soda as I'd heard that stops the bleeding. Well everythig is packed, so Cory had to go into the basement and unpack until he found it! We eventually got it and put some on, but she didnt really stop bleeding. This continued for about half an hour. We put pressure on it and wrapped her foot in a sock so she didn't get blood on the carpet and went to bed. I was up every ten minutes to check on her until I knew for sure that the bleeding had stopped. By this time it was after 10pm and we were exhausted. Little Jackson decided to wake at 11:30 and was up until 12:30! Cory tried to settle him for a little while, but I took over after about ten minutes . I finally got to bed and before I knew it, Jack was up again for his 2am feeding. Then Cory settled him when he woke at 5am and at 6am I fed Jack. Jackson decided that it was time to get up for the day, so we got up, washed the dried blood off Betty's paw and Cory took care of the family, while i slept in until 7am. When Cory went to work I decided to put Jack back to bed as he was super cranky and yawning an aweful lot. We both got another hour of sleep. Today I am going to get some last minute packing done, so we don't have to do it all tomorrow! I can't believe it's Friday!!!
